Case Description
I had a decayed tooth with abcess beneath a bridge. Bridge will need to be redone. The general dentist proceeded with the rooth canal after removing the bridge because I was in such pain from the abcess. One live nerve remained. The pain was so intense with the root canal, I screamed out a couple times. Very restless. The dentist did not believe I was having so much pain and told me to calm down. He stopped and I am returning in two weeks to complete the root canal. Anesthetic was local around the tooth, minimal residucal numbness when I left. The plan is for intra bone injection for anesthesia next time. I am gun shy. I am not a wimp with dental procedures. If my bridge fails again I will have to have an implant or partial there is so little tooth left. I want the dentist to do the bridge, but is it reasonable to request to have an endodontist complete the root canal. I have already paid him. Is it reasonable to ask for a partial refund. This dentist usually refers out his root canals. He is new to me. Went on referral from a friend because of the extent of dental work I needed and he is cheaper.

Are You This Patient?
When selecting a new doctor, consider the following:
Quality of Explanations: Compare dentist replies. Give preference to well-reasoned, detail-oriented, transparent explanations.
Experience & Qualifications: If a dentist has a practice listing, check their practice description,
special training, typical office procedures and before & after case photographs.
Other Patients' Freedback: If a dentist has reviews, read other patients' reviews. The more
reviews they have, the more likely it is that other patients' feeback is accurate.
Treatment Costs: Dental procedure costs vary from practice to practice and depend on a variety of factors.
Because quality of patient care and treatment results vary from practice to practice most dentists will not "price-match" treatment fees of others.
