When selecting a new doctor, consider the following:
  • Quality of Explanations: Compare dentist replies. Give preference to well-reasoned, detail-oriented, transparent explanations.
  • Experience & Qualifications: If a dentist has a practice listing, check their practice description, special training, typical office procedures and before & after case photographs.
  • Other Patients' Freedback: If a dentist has reviews, read other patients' reviews. The more reviews they have, the more likely it is that other patients' feeback is accurate.
  • Treatment Costs: Dental procedure costs vary from practice to practice and depend on a variety of factors. Because quality of patient care and treatment results vary from practice to practice most dentists will not "price-match" treatment fees of others.

Cost Estimate: $3000-3500
In my opinion, yes. You should get a couple of other opinions before proceeding. You will find that crowns average about $1000 in the Charlotte Metro area - so $3000 total. In addition, typically the cost of the temporary restoration is included with the bridge unless the temp will be in for an extended period of time - while implants are healing for 6-12 months for example or while periodontal surgery is being completed. This accounts for the extra maintenance and responsibility for the temp in these situations. Otherwise, it is only in for a short time while the final restoration is fabricated. Extractions range from $125-300 depending on the difficulty. See our website for more info if you would like.

Best Regards

Cost Estimate: $$2900-3500 approximate
In regard to the cost of your proposed bridge, in our office, the total cost of a 3-unit porcelain-fused-to-high noble bridge 28-30 would typically be about $2940. There would normally be no additional charge for a temporary bridge (it''''''''s included). There can be additional charges if "build-ups" of the adjacent #28 & 30 teeth are necessary. ($175 is the cost for a buildup)

My office is, however, on the other side of the lake from you, and may not be too convenient for you. We are located at the junction of Hwy 16 and Hwy 73, adjacent to the Waterside Crossing Shopping Center. You can get more information at our website ( www.drpence.com ), or we can look at your radiographs and situation for no charge, if you want to come in for a consultation.(we normally do this)

There would be an additional fee for the removal of #29, which would typically vary from $95 - 175 according to the difficulty of removal. Sometimes we recommend the tooth be removed by an oral surgeon, if there is a chance that too much bone would be lost trying to remove a fractured root.

Sometimes we recommend an implant instead of a bridge

(if the adjacent teeth are in good shape, and don''''t require any treatment.)

If you have further question, you may email them to me.
